Description Job Description: Transition Life Coach Time commitment: Full Time, 40 hours per week Pay: $17.00-$18.00/hr, DOE Reports to: Anthem Director Job Status: Non-exempt Schedule: Days may fluctuate, but generally: Weekdays 2:15 -10:15pm, Weekends hours vary Saturdays And Sundays Are Required In This Role. An Anthem House advocate directs all of the students on their shift while managing all the activities in the home.
Duties And Responsibilities - Fulfill a role with the students as a proxy parent
- Teach and enforce boundaries and expectations with students
- Attend to each student's needs while challenging and supporting them
- Set limits for students and teach more effective ways
- Intervene in unsafe or inappropriate behavior
- Act upon all opportunities to teach and connect with students
- Learn the "trust, but verify" method when working with students
- Create a successful, healthy home environment for teenagers and guard against threats such as fraternity or college dorm feel
- Become a guardian of excessive use of media/inactivity
- Assure time and resources are spent on the most clinically helpful activities for the boys
- Teach the proper cleanliness and organizational standards of a healthy home
- Communicate and ask questions with the primary therapist frequently
Life Coach Role - Work with therapists to ensure each student moving to Anthem is prepared to come
- Understand the rules and expectations and have established goals and schedules to fit each student's needs
- Teach students effective methods for goal setting and follow up
- Teach the students effective methods for organization, cleaning habits and maintenance of their responsibilities in the house
- Communicate with parents weekly by phone
- In phone calls follow appropriate guidelines in addressing topics of a therapeutic nature
- Avoid discussions and topics of a clinical nature by referring parents and students to their primary therapist
- Communicate effectively and timely with parents, treatment team members and students under my stewardship
- Anticipate the needs of the students, forecast, and help them to prepare for life events
- Work with students to understand my role as a life coach and foster buy in with the student by helping him begin with the end in mind
- Seek supervision and other resources to build my competency to that of best practices
- Produce a clear and concise residential report during treatment team
Charting - Follow charting expectations for BIRP charting
- Create thorough and prompt incident reports
- Understand the incident report guidelines
- Follow the medication administration expectations as described in the medication certification training
- Follow notification protocols listed in Notifying Nursing Department document ? Trained in medication administration as per Telos' policies and procedures
- Administer medications as ordered by the doctor / nursing manager
- Communicate and report to program director
- Complete residential certifications and classes such as CPR, First Aid, Processing Training, TB Tests, Restraint Training, etc.
- Chart in each student's medical record on the HQ database
- Maintain a safe, positive environment in the home at all times
- Strive to model the Anthem team after a functional, highly structured family home
Requirements Qualifications: - Preferred: Minimum 1 year of experience in behavioral health related fields
- Exceptional relationship skills
- Flexibility and ability to handle many situations simultaneously
- Ability to maintain healthy boundaries with students
