Job Description

Assistant General Counsel

MeiraGTx is seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney to serve as Assistant General Counsel. MeiraGTx is a NASDAQ-listed, vertically integrated, clinical-stage genetic medicines company with a broad pipeline of four late-stage clinical programs.

The Assistant General Counsel will report to the General Counsel and will manage a wide range of responsibilities with a strong focus on transactional intellectual property matters, including supporting the company’s pre-clinical, clinical, business development, manufacturing, and research and development operations.

Responsibilities :

- Provide high quality, timely and practical legal advice and support, identify and resolve critical legal and business issues arising from various transactions within pre-clinical, clinical, business development, manufacturing, and research and development operations of the company.

- Support the company’s US- and Europe-based teams on licensing technology across both the academic and business sectors, developing strategic partnerships and conducting clinical trials.

- Management, protection and evolution of the company’s IP portfolio.

- Work on a diverse set of issues involving day-to-day transactions including intellectual property, compliance, regulatory matters, clinical trials, and manufacturing.

- Lead the negotiation and drafting of a wide range of agreements, including licensing agreements, collaboration agreements, manufacturing agreements, supply agreements, consulting and services agreements and material transfer agreements.

- Advise on general corporate and business law matters from time-to-time.

- Perform other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management.

Qualifications:

- J.D. from ABA-accredited law school, top academic record and admission to at least one state bar.

- At least 7 years of legal experience in positions of increasing responsibility.

- Extensive experience representing life science companies in complex transactions involving their intellectual property, including licensing, collaboration and commercial agreements.

- Scientific background preferred.

- Well organized, detail-oriented, and accountable team player with a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment.

- Highly motivated, self-starter and quick learner with demonstrated ability to deliver quality results within time constraints.

- Roll-up your sleeves, can-do attitude to tackle projects large and small with a service-oriented approach to collaborate across the organization.

- Demonstrated ability to address commercial, international and business transactional matters within the life sciences industry.

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively with colleagues to leverage skills and knowledge within the organization.

- Exceptional verbal and written communication and presentation skills which highlight an ability to concisely and effectively reach a diverse audience at multiple levels within the Company and through various platforms (i.e., teleconferences, face-to-face meetings, presentations, reports and correspondence).

- Excellent organizational and time management skills required to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight timelines, prioritize and re-prioritize various duties and interact with colleagues and third parties globally.

- Salary range for this role is $230,000 - $250,000, depending on experience.
