JOB DESCRIPTION – Career Life Coach (Birmingham Campus)

Position : Career Life Coach Reports to : Director

Purpose: The Career Life Coach will play a pivotal role in advancing Hope Inspired Ministries’ (HIM) mission by providing comprehensive career and life coaching services to participants. Through HIM’s Recruit, Train, Employ™ model, the Career Life Coach will recruit participants from diverse backgrounds—including those referred by courts, prisons, and underserved communities—and deliver holistic training that encompasses classroom teaching, job skills development, and individualized support services. By addressing barriers such as transportation, housing, identification, and employment, the Career Life Coach will empower participants to achieve personal and professional success.

While participants typically apply for one specific location, the Career Life Coach must be prepared to serve at other HIM campuses or correctional institutions if needed. This flexibility is essential to maintaining consistent program delivery and participant support across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement:

  • Act as a key representative of HIM in the community, building strong partnerships with local leaders, employers, churches, and organizations.

  • Inspire and motivate students, volunteers, alumni, and community partners to collaborate toward HIM’s mission of transforming lives.

  • Build and maintain a supportive, growth-oriented environment for participants.

  • Engage with employers to secure job opportunities for program graduates and facilitate interviews that lead to successful employment outcomes.

Program Delivery:

  • Recruit participants from diverse sources, including court referrals, correctional institutions, underserved communities, and unemployed individuals.

  • Deliver classroom instruction and oversee job skills training, adapting teaching methods to suit varied environments.

  • Provide comprehensive wrap-around services, including:

    • Assisting participants with obtaining necessary documentation such as identification.

    • Coordinating transportation to essential appointments.

    • Supporting participants in securing stable housing.

  • Utilize data and key metrics to evaluate program performance and improve outcomes for participants.

Multi-Campus & Correctional Institution Involvement:

  • Deliver programs primarily at the assigned campus but be prepared to fill in at other campuses or correctional institutions when necessary.

  • Any travel to other locations will be infrequent and based on specific organizational needs to ensure program continuity.

  • Adapt teaching and coaching strategies to address the unique needs of participants in different settings as required.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Campus Director and Administrative Staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely submission of grant documentation.

  • Prepare and maintain program-related data for internal and external reporting.

  • Support daily operations to ensure efficiency and long-term success.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.

  • Proven ability to build and nurture relationships within the community.

  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

  • Public speaking experience and confidence in representing HIM in community settings.

  • Experience in recruiting volunteers, program participants, and community partners.

  • A bachelor’s degree and/or relevant experience in nonprofit management, ministry, or community organizing is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office platforms.

Travel Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance are required.

  • Willingness to occasionally travel between campuses or correctional institutions to meet program needs.

  • Use of a personal vehicle may rarely be necessary, though a company vehicle is provided for most transportation needs.

Hours & Compensation: This full-time position offers a competitive compensation package designed to support your professional growth and well-being. Benefits include:

  • Health Coverage : Individual health insurance at no cost to the employee, with supplemental insurance options available.

  • Retirement Savings : Access to a 401K plan with up to a 3% employer match.

  • Paid Time Off : 15 paid holidays, 80 hours of vacation, and 80 hours of sick leave annually.

  • Flexible Work Options : Consideration for a 4-day workweek with 10-hour days.

  • Mileage Reimbursement : Reimbursement for travel-related expenses.

  • Life Insurance : Coverage available after a 90-day probationary period. Employer-paid $25,000 life insurance coverage is included.

  • Evening & Weekend Hours : Some evening and weekend hours may be required for program activities and community engagement.

Salary: Competitive salary ranging from $35,000 to $40,000, based on experience and qualifications. HIM values the skills and dedication of its team members and offers a compensation package that reflects your contributions to its mission.

Why Join Our Team? At Hope Inspired Ministries, you’ll be part of a transformative mission that changes lives. Through the Recruit, Train, Employ™ model, you will empower individuals to overcome obstacles, develop essential skills, and secure meaningful employment. If you’re passionate about making a lasting impact in the lives of others, we encourage you to apply.
