NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly, efficiently, and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.

The Treasury and Payment Services Division is responsible for overseeing all City payment websites, the payment processing of tax returns, property recording forms, parking violation programs, and the collection of delinquent accounts, and oversees the agency’s management of the City’s cash balances and its relationships with banking institutions. Treasury and Payment Services is also responsible for collecting outstanding violations issued by City agencies and adjudicated by the Environmental Control Board.

The Treasury Division is responsible for managing City cash flows of over $135 billion annually, funding approximately $35 billion of City payrolls and over $77 billion of annual vendor payments, securing and managing collateral for over 4,450 City bank account balances, maintaining relationships with 29 City of New York-designated banks, serving as the fiduciary of approximately $195 million in court funds, and providing administrative support to the New York City Banking Commission.

The Court Assets Unit of the Department of Finance's Treasury Division holds all cash bail and court-ordered funds in trust until the funds are directed by the courts to be released. The court closes the case and issues a court order to refund the Cash Bail. The Court Assets Unit of the Department of Finance is charged with locating the sureties to refund the Cash Bail. If a surety cannot be located, the funds will be abandoned to the NYS Office of Unclaimed Funds.

The Court Assets Unit seeks a Court Assets Liaison who is a detail-oriented, self-starting individual who is bilingual, proficient in English and Spanish, and has exceptional communication skills to join the Court Assets team as a Cash Bail Liaison.

The position will perform the following duties:

- Serve as liaison between the Court Assets Unit and the public at the Manhattan Business Center window and provide improved community services and improve communication between the community and Court Assets.
- Respond to customer service phone inquiries daily from the courts, attorneys, sureties, and the public.
- Assist the public with completing and submitting the Cash Bail forms.
- Assist the Cash Bail community with locating sureties and bail forms.
- Educate the Cash Bail community with various Cash Bail processes.
- Review, process, and file all incoming Cash Bail forms
- Open and date-stamp incoming Court Assets mail.
- Scan and record receipt of incoming mail in database.
- Maintain and organize file room for easy retrieval of Cash Bail case folders.
- Review refund orders received by the courts for accuracy.
- Perform backup functions and special projects as needed.

Qualifications



Qualification Requirements
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
Skills Requirement
Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
