Job Summary:
Owl Cyber Defense is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Security to lead and enhance our comprehensive security programs. This is a critical role at the forefront of safeguarding the nation’s most vital networks. As the Director of Security, you will drive strategic security initiatives, manage risk, and ensure compliance with industry standards and government regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Policy Implementation
  • Ensure adherence to federal security regulations, including Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs) , the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) , and 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) , developing and enforcing policies to safeguard classified information.
  • Lead audits, assessments, and security program reviews to maintain compliance with government security directives.
Security Program Development & Oversight
  • Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive security programs covering industrial, physical, personnel (PERSEC), and information security.
  • Develop and manage an Operational Security Program, ensuring strict compliance with security policies related to information protection, facility security, and employee safety.
  • Establish and execute an Insider Threat Program, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of internal risks.
Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise
  • Serve as the primary security subject matter expert, providing guidance to executive leadership, stakeholders, and teams on security best practices, risk mitigation, and compliance strategies.
  • Oversee security training and awareness programs, ensuring employees are well-versed in security policies, classified information protection, and emerging threats.
Collaboration & Risk Management
  • Work closely with government agencies, industry partners, and internal teams to strengthen security protocols, share intelligence, and address evolving threats.
  • Provide strategic direction on security-related risk assessments, security engineering, and incident response planning.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Industrial Security Management, Information Systems Security, Information Technology Management, or other relevant field, or 10 years of equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • Familiarity and experience with SIMS, JPAS, e-QIP, NISS/DISS, ICD 705, and related security systems.
  • Industrial Security Professional (ISP), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), or other relevant professional security certifications preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of security regulations and SCIF operations.
  • Ability to manage compliance with security directives and policies effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional Competencies/Requirements:
  • Self-initiative, compliance-focused, and customer service-oriented.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • An Active US Government security clearance is required (TS preferred)
