Job Description

Who We Are:

At TPL, we're a team of outdoor advocates who believe in connecting everyone to the outdoors. As an ethos, we believe access to the outdoors is a fundamental human need and essential to our health and well-being. We're committed to creating more places that bring us outside—parks, trails, playgrounds, and public lands—and making them available and welcoming to everyone, everywhere, regardless of ZIP code. We also understand that land has meaning; it tells the story of our history. That's why, through our Black History and Culture initiative, we're working to preserve sites that more fully represent the Black American experience; and we're an ally and partner to Tribal and Indigenous communities, working in partnership to reconnect them with their ancestral lands.

One hundred million people, including 28 million children, don't have nearby access to a park within ten minutes of their home. We're determined to change this outdoor equity gap–and as a result, nine million people and counting now have access because of our work. We have miles to go and a plan to get there. We're inclusive change-makers who believe in connecting everyone to the outdoors. We inspire by paving the way forward and strengthening our connection to nature. Join us!

Position Summary:

Do you believe events can spark action and build community? Trust for Public Land is seeking an Events Coordinator who will bring creativity, precision, and people-centered thinking to every gathering. The events team combines creativity and strategy to amplify TPL’s mission. Our events are storytelling platforms that foster collaboration and deepen relationships with donors, volunteers, and communities. Whether curating guest experiences or managing national board gatherings, we go beyond logistics to craft moments that drive action and celebrate our collective devotion to creating parks and protecting land for everyone. We make TPL’s mission tangible, impactful, and unforgettable.
As a member of TPL’s Events Team, the Events Coordinator provides vital coordination across logistics, communications, and donor relations to ensure meaningful and mission-aligned experiences. This is an exciting opportunity to help build moments that inspire people to have deeper relationships with the outdoors and TPL’s work.

This role requires 10% travel, or more, as needed within the United States and occasional weekend and evening hours. This position may be remote, with a preference for candidates located near a Trust for Public Land office and a major airport.

Essential Functions:

Event Coordination & Logistics (50%)
  • Support planning and execution of donor events, field office celebrations, and community gatherings
  • Manage registration, guest lists, day-of logistics, and on-site setup/breakdown
  • Prepare materials (badges, run-of-show, seating charts)
  • Coordinate venues and vendors to ensure seamless guest experience

Guest & Donor Engagement (25%)

  • Communicate with donors, VIPs, and stakeholders before, during, and after events
  • Respond to inquiries and manage outreach and confirmations

Communications & Marketing (15%)

  • Draft event invitations, event web content, and email campaigns
  • Update event pages and monitor RSVPs
  • Ensure all event communications align with brand guidelines

Operations & Reporting (10%)

  • Maintain shared digital files and records
  • Track event metrics (attendance, engagement, outcomes)
  • Archive event assets and support post-event evaluations

Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in events, donor engagement, or project management.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communicator, with a collaborative approach demonstrating cultural sensitivity and a proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, lived experiences, and abilities.
  • Comfortable using CRM or other constituent/client database systems (experience with Clearview a plus), event registration tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and work evenings/weekends for events.
  • Ability to manage a mixed workload with minimum supervision.
  • Enthusiastic about outdoor access, equity, and TPL’s mission
  • Strong commitment to TPL’s shared values (Belonging, Creativity, Collaboration, Impact, and Hope) to effectively work across the organization.

Compensation:

Trust for Public Land is a hybrid work environment, and this role will ideally be located near a Trust for Public Land office, but can also be done remotely. As a full-time employee, you will be eligible for the Trust for Public Land’s comprehensive benefits program which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, vacation and sick pay plus holidays, a year end office closure, and a 403(b)-retirement plan, currently with up to a 7% company match. We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience; the anticipated hiring range for this position is $65,000-75,000. In addition, Trust for Public Land offers locality pay to eligible regular employees in select geographic areas.

Trust for Public Land’s active goal is to be an inclusive and equitable place to work and build community. As the organization actively works to eliminate racial and other disparities it welcomes candidates with diverse backgrounds and/or multicultural skillsets. We are open to the possibility that a great candidate for this job may not precisely meet all the above criteria; if you believe you are the right person for this job and can persuasively make that case, we encourage you to apply.
