Hunter High School – CTE Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Teacher (1.0 FTE)


This position is for a Family Consumer Science (FACS) teacher at Hunter High School for the 2025-2026 school year. The teacher may be responsible for teaching:

Required Certification


Requires one of the following:
  • a valid Professional Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with one or more of the following endorsements: Family & Consumer Sciences (CTE/General), Family Consumer Sciences Comprehensive, Early Childhood, Advanced Interior Design, Fashion/Textiles/Apparel, Culinary Arts, Food Science/Nutrition (Note: Teachers with specialty area endorsements will be required to be fully endorsed in all areas of instruction within three (3) years of hire);
  • a valid Associate Educator License issued by the Utah State Board of Education with a Secondary or CTE License Area of Concentration with one or more of the following endorsements: Family & Consumer Sciences (CTE/General), Early Childhood, Advanced Interior Design, Fashion/Textiles/Apparel, Culinary Arts, Food Science/Nutrition (Note: Teachers with specialty area endorsements will be required to be fully endorsed in all areas of instruction within three (3) years of hire);
  • a current out-of-state license with a Family & Consumer Sciences related endorsement.
  • new teacher education program graduates, who do not have their official teaching license yet, should upload a conferral letter from their university education program in lieu of their license, verifying date of graduation, and in which content area(s). Candidate must have officially graduated before hire. A copy of the candidates official teaching license and degree will be required upon hire.
  • a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related field such as: Family & Consumer Sciences, Human Development & Family Studies, Food Science and Human Nutrition, Design & Merchandising, Behavioral Health;
  • Have six (6) years of documented, related, full-time occupations experience (not teaching experience) within the ten (10) years prior to the application in a field such as: fashion buyer, fashion designer, preschool instructor, and/or child care. Documentation should be included on the resume indicating duties, responsibilities, and dates of employment.

Job Summary
Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners and productive citizens. Teachers maintain a safe environment; establish rapport with students, parents and colleagues; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and do so in accordance with each student’s ability. Teachers differentiate curriculum and use effective research-based methods of instruction. Implement Proficiency-Based Grading in Student Evaluations.



Essential Functions
  • Maintain a safe, orderly lab following all required safety procedures.
  • Utilize lab equipment to apply concepts found in USBE’s CTE Core Curriculum.
  • Maintain and inventory equipment.
  • Build strong working relationships with industry partners to support alignment of core content to industry needs.
  • Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USBE’s Core Curriculum, and adopted by the Board of Education, correlated with other approved learning activities.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the child.
  • Utilize effective teaching techniques in translating lesson plans into productive student learning experiences which best utilize the time available for instruction
  • Utilize computers and other technological classroom support equipment in student instruction.
  • Supervision of students requires both indoor and outdoor responsibilities (e.g. recess duty, gymnasium activities, etc.) in all types of weather and air quality.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom through organization and appropriate discipline strategies.
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth, maintain appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Be familiar with and willing to implement Proficiency-Based Learning in evaluating students.
  • Be familiar with and willing to implement the Granite Way.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences, telephone calls, e-mails, student planners, school website, and other appropriate means, to discuss the student’s progress.
  • Communicate and cooperate with other professional staff regarding the student’s academic and personal growth areas.
