Growing, successful Optometric practice with 3 locations in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a full-time Optometrist to join their team 4 or 5 days per week - New grads welcome!
The practice is seeking a full-time Associate Optometrist passionate about serving patients to provide top-quality eye care. You'll work 32 to 40 hours a week and perform comprehensive patient care to a diverse group of patients of all ages, visual and medical conditions—approximately 16 to 20 comprehensive exams are performed daily. As the practice is fully staffed, Optometric Technicians perform pretesting, and a medical scribe assists during exams, enabling doctors to spend quality time with patients.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate leadership, excellent patient communication skills, interpersonal skills, and compassion for patient health and safety. In addition, the ideal candidate will want to develop skills through mentorship with experienced doctors and integrate new techniques and innovations that improve patient care and services.
The practice uses state-of-the-art diagnostic technology and vision correction products to diagnose and treat a wide array of ocular conditions. Fully suited with top-of-the-line optical equipment, the team utilizes Marco refraction, Optos, topography, optical coherence tomography, Oculus 5M meibography, Humphrey visual field, and soon-to-be Lumenis IPL. Patients enjoy an upscale ambiance while browsing over 1,000 designer frames from the optical boutique—plus, the Opticians work closely with the patients to select proper frames for cosmetic, lifestyle, and vision needs.
Highlights of the position:
-Work 4 or 5 days/week, M-F only
-If 5 days: Mon-Fri; if 4 days: Tue-Fri
-Patient ages range from 3 to 103
-Practice has OCT, VF, autorefractor, Oculus 5M meibography, topographer, and soon-to-be IPL
-Techs do all prep work, cross-trained as scribes

Responsibilities of the Optometrist:
-Diagnose and co-manage ocular disease (glaucoma-heavy)
-Perform comprehensive vision exams
-Diagnose and treat dry eye
-Fit specialty lenses
-Opportunity for Myopia control
-Surgical post-ops
-Follow-ups
-Travel between 3 locations weekly, all within 15 minutes of each other
Minimum Qualifications:
-Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
-Valid California license
-Be proactive, willing to learn
-Optometric Spanish a plus
