Job Description

One of our clients is seeking a Senior GIS Systems Architect to lead the design, deployment, and implementation of ArcGIS Enterprise in a multi-environment configuration. This role requires extensive experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS Enterprise platform , including integration with enterprise infrastructure, networks, and databases .

The architect will be responsible for designing and documenting a highly available GIS architecture , configuring ArcGIS components, and automating GIS environment deployment and management .

This position is fully remote , but candidates must be located within an Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) zone to ensure alignment with project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and implement two ArcGIS Enterprise instances (Staging & Production) , including:
  • Portal for ArcGIS
    
  • ArcGIS Server
    
  • ArcGIS Web Adapter
    
  • ArcGIS Object Store
    
  • SQL Server enterprise geodatabase (Staging & Production)
    
• Define system architecture, networking, and storage configurations for ArcGIS Enterprise environments.
  
• Evaluate server sizing, high-availability configurations, firewall policies, and port requirements .
  
• Develop and document a disaster recovery strategy for ArcGIS Enterprise.
  
• Automate deployment and maintenance of GIS environments using Python (ArcPy), Pandas, PowerShell, and SQL .
  
• Ensure geospatial data integrity and interoperability , designing and managing enterprise geodatabases.
  
• Create and maintain logical ArcGIS Enterprise design diagrams , detailing server configurations, ports, and security settings .
  
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and training to GIS analysts on ArcGIS Enterprise administration and monitoring .
  
• Optimize geospatial data storage, GIS web services (REST, SOAP), and performance tuning .
  
• Leverage System Designer, ArcGIS Monitor, System Log Parser, and eGDB Health to track system health and optimize performance.
  
• Implement DevOps practices for GIS application deployment , ensuring streamlined updates and automation.
  

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field – 4+ years
  
• 8+ years of experience in GIS architecture and deployment , preferably in Microsoft / Azure environments
  
• 5+ years of experience designing and deploying ArcGIS Enterprise in multi-environment configurations
  
• 5+ years of experience with DNS, port assignment, and firewall policy management related to ArcGIS Server & ArcGIS Enterprise
  
• 5+ years of experience using Python (ArcPy, Pandas) and SQL for ArcGIS management and automation
  
• 5+ years of experience with geodatabase design and spatial analysis
  
• 5+ years of experience with GIS web services (REST, SOAP) and APIs
  
• 5+ years of strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
  
• 5+ years of experience working independently and within cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  

Highly Desired Skills & Experience

• ESRI-certified Enterprise System Design Professional (ESDP2201) – 1+ year
  
• Experience using System Designer, ArcGIS Monitor, System Log Parser, and eGDB Health to monitor ArcGIS Enterprise deployments – 5+ years
  
• Experience with DevOps practices for GIS application deployment – 5+ years
